MEDIATING ROLE OF WORK CENTRALITY ON THE PERCEIVED INFLUENCE OF ORGANISATIONAL JUSTICE ON PSYCHOLOGICAL DETACHMENT AMONG EMPLOYEES IN EKITI STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract

The research work was carried out to explore the mediating role of work centrality on the perceived influence of organisational justice on psychological detachment. A total number of five hundred and twenty (520) workers from 3 different sectors participated in the study. Three Psychological instruments were used; they comprises of Recovery Experience Scale Organisational Justice Scale and Work Centrality scale. Six hypotheses were developed and tested using independent t-test and regression statistics. The result showed a significant influence of organisational justice on psychological detachment, a significant influence of procedural justice on psychological detachment, as well as an interactional influence justice on psychological detachment; there is no significant effect of distributive justice on psychological detachment.. Findings also revealed that work centrality significantly mediate the influence of organisational justice on psychological detachment. Gender influences were found on organisational justice and work centrality but there is no significant effect of gender difference on psychological detachment. The result was conversed in line with relevant literature and recommendations were subsequently made based on the findings
